I always have loved photographing birth stories, but unfortunately with a young family of my own, have not many opportunities to do them. But there is something so incredibly moving about witnessing a new life enter this world, and I feel so blessed to be able to capture those memories for some families.
Jenn had been so patient while waiting for her baby boy to arrive this summer. She has the most gorgeous little girl and had been busy preparing for his arrival the last few months. With her first, I knew that she was a little late with her arrival, and her little guy had decided to arrive a little over due too. On the day of his birth, Jenn's water had broke in the early morning hours on a cloudy June day, and she made it to the hospital shortly after. When I arrived at the hospital to meet her, Jenn had been working away with her contractions and already had a solid support team there to help her get through them. Her husband was right by her side the entire time, as well as her mother, and her sister who was expecting her own first baby. As I photographed her, I came to learn that Jenn had needed a cesarean section because of concerns for her baby. It was not what Jenn had hoped or planned for this birth, but she was incredibly brave and was prepared to do whatever she needed to do for the safe delivery of her baby. Her husband was there with her holding her hand through the contractions as they went down to the operating room. Shortly after Jacob was born, the nurses had taken him to his daddy in the waiting area, so he was able to meet his new baby boy. He was absolutely adorable!
Not too long after, Jenn was awake and able to return to her room to meet her baby boy and finally hold him in her arms. You could see the instant bond formed between momma and her baby. It was beautiful.
The next day, their daughter came to the hospital to meet her baby brother, and their family was finally complete. It was such a beautiful moment to witness. Congratulations to the Blommaert family! He is perfect!
